LA Myth 09

Freaky Robots!

Hey Everyone! We just launched the website for the shorts I have been working on at Oddbot Inc.

I did all the design and color on the BGs and characters. Check them out at www.freakyrobots.com

Zefronk!

Zefronk is one of the projects I have been working on here at Oddbot Inc. The show premiered last weekend on Playhouse Disney. The original Character and BG designs were done by the show's creator Ethan Long. I did the clean up and color on the backgrounds and the drawn props. Oh, and I designed the logo too!

Dr. Grave!

I was fortunate enough to be asked to contribute a pin-up to the new Dr. Grave comic created by the talented Ed Clayton. Thanks to Erich Haeger who worked very hard to get the book together and to Ed Clayton for the opportunity to display my work in his comic. Check out the book available at House of Secrets and other fine comics retailers.

Streetfighter Tribute Book

Check this book out if you haven't yet! They have some awesome pieces by some very talented artists in it, and I'm in there too. Below is the piece that I did for the book.

Hard 8 Volume 2 Prints! $20

These are a few samples from my Hard 8 story for Hard 8 Volume 2. I'll have a very limited supply (5 of each image) of these prints for sale at Comic Con for $20 each. The prints will be 11"x17" or so depending on the dimensions of each individual image on a nice velvet fine art paper. If anyone wants to be guaranteed a print just e-mail me (thegute@hotmail.com) and let me know which one you want and I'll print an extra one for you and you can pick it up at the Con. If you won't be making it out to the Con this year just let me know and I can mail it out to you or arrange a pick up.

EL TIGRE BGs!

I had the pleasure and honor of working with two of my heroes and idols, Jorge Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua on season 2 of TV's best kept secret, El Tigre! Working on that show was a dream come true for me and a great learning experience. Along with Jorge and Sandra I got to work with some of the top talent in animation and for that I am both humbled and grateful.

So finally Nickelodeon has decided to start airing the 2nd season and I can finally post some of the background painting I did on the show. I'm not sure who worked on which BGs but the incredibly talented team that helped create them were: Art Directors Jerry De Jesus and Roman Laney and BG designers Katrien Verbiest, Joseph Holt and Kyle Neswald. Then I tried really hard not to ruin the awesome job they did.

The destroyed city BG above was actually the test I took to get the job on El Tigre. I was very excited when I found out they were going to use my test as one of the BGs on the show, and that I was going to get paid for it!

I did this just as a fun exercise in which I paused a movie and studied then quickly painted the scene. It probably took about 15 minutes to paint. Try to guess which movie its from.

This is the exterior of the casino and the Las Vegas strip. Its not quite finished yet, I still need to add cars, some glowing light effects and signs on some of the casinos. You can see the finished product when I get the whole project done.

I've been made!

So Chiacheese was right, I did get the job. I am now a prop designer/clean-up artist on a still untitled Andre 3000 show. Oh and here is a character I designed for a another test I was in the middle of and had to stop because I got hired. The character is Irwin from The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy, only he's a tentacled monster.

I did this sketch at the train station this morning then threw some color on it with pastel chalk pencils.
